BRRAlliance Playing Through Time a Kaboom Project
BRRAlliance brought an investment into our community that allowed for the creation of passive play elements in our community green spaces. Designed with input from the youth of the community and by incorporating some of the rich community history as well, the play elements and public art were officially completed in 2019. Whether the design elements were farm stands created to represent the old world use of this part of the community or a mural illustrating the current diversity of the community, or sidewalk games to show the environmental significance of our community, or a place for community expression of art and ideas, this three part project promotes healthy outdoor activities in a safe community green space and allows for better communication between neighbors and neighborhoods.
This collaborative project brought together youth and artisans; history and nature; student mentors and budding gardeners; and play and the environment. Most proud of the fact that the majority of this grants funds were kept locally as members of the community were hired and built or created the play elements, it clearly exemplifies the BRRAlliance philosophy that grants for programs and projects designed to improve the quality of life in the community should also, whenever possible, support the businesses in the community.
