Who We Are
Friends of Unity Island is a volunteer group dedicated to the stewardship of Unity Island Park in the City of Buffalo, NY. Our efforts include cleanup events, educational outreach, and advocacy. Our mission is to bring about improved maintenance, wildlife habitat restoration and sustainable park usage.
Unity Island Park is owned and managed by the City of Buffalo Division of Parks and Recreation. Friends of Unity Island is a collaborating partner with Black Rock Riverside Alliance.

Unity Island Location
Unity Island is located on the Niagara River in the city of Buffalo, NY.
Unity Island Park spans the northern tip of Unity Island. This jewel of the historic Black Rock neighborhood provides a prime urban nature experience that includes hiking, bicycling, picnics, fishing, birdwatching and spectacular sunsets. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
Unity Island Park is notably situated within the Niagara River Corridor Important Bird Area along a major North American migratory bird pathway. To date 190 different bird species have been observed.
